About Us
The Dunbartonshire Disability Sports Club SCIO is a charity (SC052562) run by volunteers with the aim of raising awareness of disability sport and to increase the opportunity for those with a disability to take part in sport and physical activity in West Dunbartonshire and beyond.
The DDSC was developed in 2010 in response to a public consultation which highlighted the lack of after school physical activity opportunities for those with a disability in the local areas.
As a result the DDSC weekly physical sessions were created for children and young people affected by physical disability.
Our Aims
- To raise awareness and profile of disability sports.
- To provide weekly physical activity sessions for young people and children with disabilities to develop social, motor and cognitive skills.
- To improve our members sense of belonging.
- To provide much needed respite opportunities for parents and carers.
- To improve cooperation among local sports organisations.
- To offer volunteering opportunities for the local community.
